How To Layer and Style For Winter

 

As the Australian weather starts to cool down, it can be challenging knowing how to adjust your style to suit the temperature. While it’s appealing to slide on a pair of uggs (an obvious Australian classic) and throw on a moth-eaten cardigan that’s probably been sitting in your wardrobe for the last 5 years, it’s probably not going to suit all occasions. At Apero we feel strongly about making your clothes work for you all round. Designer and owner, Rachel, was inspired to create trans-seasonal fashion pieces that are timeless through the ages and seasons. Instead of buying into seasonal fast fashion trends, take your summer pieces and layer them to suit the weather and your needs. We’ve come up with a few ways you can take your Apéro tees and layer them, as well as use pieces from your wardrobe you may already have so that you can stay effortlessly chic and comfortable this winter. 

 

THE EVERYDAY LOOK

Whether you’re running down to the shops or grabbing a quick coffee with a friend, this outfit should see you through any occasion during these wintery days. Utilizing some wardrobe staples, including a white tee (an Apéro tee is a bonus), black skinny jeans, black boots, and a grey fleece jumper, just add some simple accessories to add a bit of flare. This is the sort of look you can wear for years to come.

SPORTY CHIC

This outfit is for those active days when you’re out and about walking your dog or visiting the local market for fresh produce. Comfort and practicality is key here, we have sunscreen (a must in every Australian season), macrame tote used as reusable shopping bag, and sneakers for getting around easily (Veja are an amazing shoe brand that uses a mixture of considered and recycled materials). Combined with the oversized Apéro tee, you have the comfiest outfit for getting things done this winter!

BACK IN THE OFFICE

As lockdown slowly lifts and we find ourselves heading back to the office, you’re probably wondering what to wear. If you’re anything like us, you might have spent the last few months in jeans and a tee (and the occasional pj day), and now you might have forgotten what people in the real world wear. One of our favourite work-wear outfits is the linen blazer set, it’s an easy transition from jeans and a tee as it maintains its effortlessness and comfortability, whilst also staying cool, chic and professional. Accessorise with black mules and a tote, and remember to throw into your bag some hand cream for those cold wintery days at the office computer desk.

DINNER DATE

There’s nothing we have been looking forward to more than to head out on a cute date with a partner or friends for cocktails and dinner. If you weren’t already aware, Apéro is derived from the French word ‘aperitif’ which essentially means ‘happy hour’, usually enjoyed with friends as the sun is setting. Inspired by this idea we’ve thrown together a French chic dinner date look. With comfort and warmth in mind, we’ve included the Bella Knit Jumper in black, paired with dusty pink mules and clutch - timeless pieces that should bring you joy for many dinner dates to come. Tie up your hair with a scarf, spritz your favourite French perfume, and you’re set for an evening of fun and laughter.

A FEMININE TOUCH

We couldn’t help ourselves, we feel everyone needs an all-pink winter look! As with most of our styling tips here, we’ve tried to use wardrobe pieces that are trans-seasonal and timeless. Substitute our suggestions for whatever you may have in your wardrobe! We recommend pairing a pink top with white bottoms and shoes, and accessorising with hints of gold and pink. If you’re feeling bold, grab a statement handbag or throw on a cute pink hat.
